Playing Piano - Life Success!

Learning how to play the piano can help you develop key skills which enable you to become more successful in life. Here’s a list of some of the skills you improve when learning to play:

  1. Concentration – focusing on those notes, clefs, rhythms and finger positions can really improve your concentration levels. Studies show that playing a musical instrument is one of the only activities where almost all areas of the brain are stimulated.

  2. Endurance – practise makes perfect and when you are improving your technique and nail those new pieces of music, you must be really determined and not give up when it gets hard.

  3. Coordination – 2 hands doing two different things at once. Multi-tasking at its finest!

  4. Comprehension – You’ll be developing knowledge of rhythmic durations and sight reading notes as well as increasing your memory capacity. Think of it as brain training!

  5. Emotional intelligence – Musicians are usually better listeners as you are listening to music and how it is interpreted. Studies have shown that musicians are more perceptive in realising the emotions of others.
